A spring day.

A perfect spring day is just what the doctor ordered. A sunny walk to the farmer’s market, lunch at the delicious Zingerman’s Delicatessen, a bike ride to Trader Joe’s and a quick trip to Whole Foods all led up to a night in with friends, food, wine and basketball. Spring has finally visited MI and the birds are chirping away.

So, farmer’s markets at the end of winter in Michigan do not have any produce. I was expecting rows and rows of fresh asparagus, peas, artichokes, strawberries and kiwis. Instead, there were rows and rows of baked goods, and the occasional carton of eggs. It took every ounce of self-restaint to not buy every single scone, muffin, loaf of bread or croissant. One blueberry muffin with sugar sprinkled on top and a large English Breakfast tea kept me happy!

We planned on drinking sangria at one of our favorite seasonal bars to end the day, but basketball and an unexpected visitor kept us in our living room all night. Some of our freshman year crew came over and we spent the night being as silly and ridiculous as we did back then. Cheers to a fabulous spring day.
