Shared anxieties.

March 25, 2013 § Leave a comment

This past weekend I spent time with my cousin, Julia, who was visiting University of Michigan as a potential student, and my uncle who came along for the excitement. Julia and I are four years apart. I remember as I was heading off to college, she was heading off to high school. Here we are, four years later, and I’m graduating college as she’s about to begin. Time plays tricks on you but I’m glad I have Julia as a reminder of what four years looks like. I remember exactly how she’s feeling right now: itching to be on her own and excited to start her independent life. Independence is invigorating, thrilling and addicting. But four years later, I can’t help but almost burst with joy every chance I can go home and have my parents take care of me. While we’re both at different stages in our lives, we found comfort in discussing our shared excitements and anxieties for new chapters in our lives over Sunday brunch.
